JLL Celebrates Another Great Year

Kudos to the House Programs Committee for arranging such a nice Annual Dinner program at the Lancaster Country Club! Thursday evening's event was a wonderful celebration of the work we as volunteers do for our community, and it served as a heartwarming reminder of how much we support one another as friends and mentors throughout the League year.

Special congratulations are due to Amie Lawrence, who was honored with the 2010-2011 Red Rose Award. Sustainers and Actives welcomed the Spring New Member Class into active status, and the amazing leadership of outgoing President Kristin Kopp was recognized. Good luck to Stacey Wilson, who was passed the gavel and is now our President and new fearless leader!

Do you know a high school student with an exceptional interest in voluntarism? If so, please encourage them to apply for the Junior League of Lancaster's 2012 Deborah P. Altman Outstanding Youth Volunteer Award.The award is named for Deb Altman, Past President of the Junior League of Lancaster, whose life exemplified a commitment to volunteering, a love of children, and service to the community. Winner(s) receive a cash award and a donation to a charity of the winner's choosing.All applications must be received by March 30, 2012. Winner(s) will be notified by April 20, 2012, and award presentation will take place May 7, 2012
The Junior League of Lancaster is very excited to share with the community a program that recognizes high school girls who demonstrate initiative as entrepreneurs. The JLL is sponsoring a Business Plan Competition for High School Girls, whose purpose is to identify and recognize high school girls who are interested in starting their own business. Business plan should be based in an original idea for a product or service. All high school girls throughout Lancaster County are encouraged to participate. Friday, February 3, 2012 - Deadline to submit written business plan. If you have any questions, please e-mail the committee at jllgirlsinbusiness@gmail.com. Saturday, April 14th - Oral presentation of business plan. Community members are welcome to attend.
